Observer Training Support

Objectives

The purpose of this workshop is to build employee support for Behavioral Safety by ensuring that employees:

  • Understand the rationale for a Behavioral Safety process
  • Know how to use their organization’s observation checklist in conducting safety observations
  • Can provide feedback to their coworkers without creating hard feelings

Description

This workshop includes an overview of the organization’s process, and thus must be carefully tailored to each organization. It includes a detailed overview of the procedures for conducting observations and how the information will be used. Participants conduct three observations using short, video taped work samples, then role play how they would provide feedback to their co-worker on each observation.

The course has four basic modules:

  1. An introduction to behavioral safety
  2. How does the process work in this organization
  3. How to conduct observations
  4. How to discuss observations
